Technical sun protection fabrics for external blinds

Besides playing a functional role, to protect us from the sun, technical sun protection fabrics also have a decorative function. They adapt perfectly to the architecture of the building. On top of that, all technical fabrics last a very long time and keep insects out. We can differentiate fabrics based on their opacity and transparency, including a wide range of possibilities. Thanks to their specific features and a wide range of colours, there is always a suitable type of fabric for every application.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT TECHNICAL FABRIC FOR SUN PROTECTION?

STEP 1. WHAT IS THE APPLICATION OF THE CURTAIN?

Depending on the application, we select a specific fabric. Since not all technical sun protection fabrics can be used in all applications, this can already be a first step in the selection of the desired fabric. For example, fibreglass fabrics are recommended for Fixscreen. For Topfix, we recommend choosing polyester fabrics.

STEP 2. WHAT REQUIREMENTS MUST TECHNICAL SUN PROTECTION FABRICS MEET?

Several types of fabrics, different colours, multiple degrees of perforation…, all of which have an impact on the technical characteristics of the fabric. It is therefore important to have a clear idea of the requirements that the fabric must meet. Again, this depends on the type of building, the application and the use of space. For example, the heat value reached by a fabric can be decisive for the use of a certain fire protection fabric. However, visual parameters can also have an influence.

STEP 3. WHAT ARE THE CLIENT’S PERSONAL PREFERENCES?

There is no accounting for taste. Fortunately, there is a wide range of colours and fabric patterns. The aesthetics of the fabric (colours, patterns, manufacturing, etc.) have an impact on the functionality. Combine them and find the perfect solution!
